86 47

The amazing thing is that the thousands of my photos that disappeared from my personal file folders have magically reappeared in those folders. I have no idea why, but I'm relieved, that's for sure.

All the Kiva loans I reviewed this week were from Phillippino borrowers, and all wanted money for a sanitary toilet. All of the borrower profiles showed the borrower standing next to a toilet inside a crude, cinderblock hut with a curtain for privacy. The toilet is never connected by pipes to the wall, so I can only guess they dig a pit underneath it until they can afford something approximating modern sanitation.

I think we may have had about 800 or so...maybe a thousand....people show up for our town's demonstration today. First we listened to a series of motivational speakers, including my favorite, a church pastor, and then we walked to South Main Street and lined nearly a mile of roadway with our signs, receiving a great deal of support from passing motorists.

My favorite of your pictures so far!
I was in the huge crown in Boston - where I live - but I think the 2500+ local ralllues are especially impactful because people feel alone in their fear and frustration, and now they know their neighbors support them.

Thank you, LoL! You live in one of the very best cities in this country. I lived outside Boston as an undergraduate and law student. Love that city!

I spoke to many people at our rally and felt I had made friends with all. There was an older man there by himself, and I assured him he was not alone in feeling the way he felt. Evidently he was not plugged into social media! It was his first rally. This was my 9th!

Just wanted to comment about the Filipino loans. I am almost certain that they are people from the provinces, and yes, many basically use what amounts to crude outhouses still. From there, the feces would either be buried, or at times, there are run-offs that basically run down the side of a hill or some such.

Modern sanitations are still non-existent for some. There are a lot of good Filipino people out there who just want the smallest and most basic things that will also make the biggest impact to their family's lives. So, thank you for helping them out.

Yes, I think you are right, Tabs. Manila, I think, is a modern city, but once you get into the provinces, it's a different story. There are many, many Filipinos requesting these loans. It is kind of shocking these conditions still exist.
