Robin Williams RIP

August 12th, 2014 at 11:58 am

So sad to hear about Robin Williams' death. It's sad when anyone commits suicide, but all the more startling when a funny man does it.

It just goes to show you, that even with a loving family, rewarding career, respect, fame and financial independence, depression can cause horrible things to happen.

And, while debate over legalizing marijuana has gone on for decades, a perfectly legal substance known as alcohol held someone like this within its inexorable grip.

So sad...

This made me so sad this morning. Just thinking about all he still had to give to the world .... What a brilliant man, and how tragic.

When I was in college I worked for a store that had two locations in San Francisco. He would come into the one to shop-he loved kitchen gadgets and cooking. He would have us in stitches with his comments and jokes about the utensils. He was so funny to us. But also he always said hello, how are you, learned a few of our names while I worked there. He was very polite and always a gentleman-even at his funniest.

He once rode his bike into the store said something about nothing catching his eye and rode out. He was back a few minutes later apologizing. He was always a welcome sight when he came in the store.

He will be greatly missed. It is so very sad.

Wow Kiki, that is so neat that you actually got to interact with him. He was one of my favorite entertainers - Good Will Hunting, Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam, Patch Adams and Dead Poets Society ... all films that rank very high on my favorites list - all because of him being in it.

How much despair he must have been in to take his own life. So sad.
