I'm exhausted but we saw Keith Richards' house

March 9th, 2014 at 12:22 am

Oh, I'm so tired. That will happen when you're tromping through the woods in the snow.

Today was my 3rd date with Mike. When I got up this a.m. I wasn't really feeling like walking in the snow, and I was feeling kind of tired from the usual work week. But we had already planned the date. We walked for well over 2 hours in a good 6 inches of snow, which made it really difficult and slower going.

Keith Richards is known to have a house that you can see from one of the trails in the preserve. It looks pretty nice from the outside, but it's not enormously-sized or anything.

What was cool is that Mike said he'd read Keith Richards' autobiography ("Life") and that he talks a little about the house and the fact that it's next to a nature preserve, although he doesn't name it. There are also pictures of it inside.

The walk was very tiring (I am so out of shape), but it was quiet and peaceful at the same time. It also was fairly warm today with blue skies with temps in the low 40s. The small parking lot was full with about 10 cars. I was so surprised.

After the walk we came back to my house. It was his first time there. We changed out of our wet boots, hung around and talked in the kitchen over tall glasses of V8 and then decided to head to the local Chinese place for dinner.

So I guess we broke the ice as he tried to kiss me twice as he was saying goodbye. It was a little lopsided, I told him i was a little rusty and he said that's ok, he's a little rusty too. It was oh so awkward! If you think it gets easier when you're older, no it doesn't, not at all! Egads.

But I guess it tells me he's interested. He was actually such a gentleman on our previous 2 dates that I was wondering whether he wasn't sure if he wanted any romantic thing with me and maybe just wanted a hiking partner.

The whole idea of romance just gives me the heebeejeebees, if you know what I mean. It's NERVE-WRACKING to even think about it.

Tomorrow I have a lot of freelance work to do. Just in tonight is the first part of a legal report to edit, and I also have the manuscript of the motivational speaker to start, although I haven't gotten the first payment for that yet. She SAID she mailed it a week ago, a check for $500, but I told her I never got it so she said she would mail another one. I guess I would be more concerned about a check that didn't arrive. She also offered to draft it into my checking account; i have no idea what that entails but I'm guessing it would mean giving her my bank account number, and there's no way I'm doing that with someone I don't know.

I think our next date will be a movie.

awwww, either I have been out of touch or you have, so I presume you have a new boyfriend! OY I can't imagine also being in that position. I guess it would be just live and be yourself no matter who it's with or without!

And funny to be sightseeing for the little vacation house of a rolling stone Big Grin I suppose the thrill would be if he popped out of the front door and said 'hi' or opened the garage and out came a tesla or something, right?

keep sending out entries, at least the parts you want to be public! we're all ears!

Thanks, PCJ. I feel so tentative about it that I hesitate to even call him a boyfriend. Heck, at this point in my life (and I'm roughly the same age as you), it's incredibly flattering to have anyone show an interest. And in this case he seems to be an exceptionally nice guy and not bad-looking either. Sometimes, that can be hard to find. I meet a lot of guys my age or a little older who just don't take care of themselves and frankly, they are very unappealing. If I can't picture myself kissing someone, it'll never fly! On top of that, he's one of the rare guys who shares my politics and some outdoor interests like hiking. I think I can persuade him to buy a kayak. Actually, I used to be MUCH more into outdoor activities in my 20s, 30s and 40s but I have gotten away from it.

Ack, kissing OY help!! And those of us double nickels have baggage, usually heavy. I used to have a kayak (2 nd hand), gone after a few years into kids. You go girl get into one! Here's another way to find outdoor types, casual to serious: meetup.com
I just started using it a month ago and seems to be the hot place to find get togethers of every sort. Just in case you get back into hiking (huge numbers of that going on in meet up ).

It sounds like things are going well with Mike. Smile I wouldn't worry too much about the kissing, etc., it'll come back to you. Smile
Instead of giving your bank account info to the lady, how about having her send her payment to PayPal (if you have an account.) That way you don't have to worry about her having your personal info, and there is no excuse for payment not arriving. Smile

Thanks, Frugal Texan. I do have a Paypal account but i don't really like to use since when i use it the fee that's deducted by Paypal to use their service comes out of MY end. I'd rather wait for the check.

You are never too old for romance. Don't worry about feeling rusty. I was out of the game for years before getting my feet wet again. I revert back to 16 when dating someone who makes my heart skip a beat. Enjoy the experience and have fun.

We've been using we've been using Interact e-transfer to others and incoming from others for about 5 yrs. It's a very efficient and safe process for paying people just like we pay utilities or CC bills on-line. Your bank's sidebar likely offers details to explain the process. The money transfers and is available the same business day.

It's exhausting walking in the snow and I hope you're not feeling stiff today. It's a lovely combination of fresh air, exercise and conversation oh so good for those of us behind a desk 9-5, M-F.
